Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has gifted the Christian community in Bauchi 1,000 bags of 25kg rice to enable them to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
The distribution of the items was carried out under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s APC-led administration, aimed at mitigating the negative impact of the current economic situation in the country.
Announcing the donation on Monday during the handover of the items, the Bauchi State Coordinator of the Northern Nigeria Christian Political Forum, Ayuba Umar Yelwa, stated that the donation was made under the auspices of the organization across the 19 Northern States and the FCT.
According to him, “Her Excellency, the Wife of the President, has, in her usual compassionate manner, donated 1,000 bags of 25kg rice to the Christian community in Bauchi State to enable them to celebrate Christmas and New Year.”
“The items are to be distributed to Christians across the 20 LGAs of the state. She emphasized that widows, widowers, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable individuals should be prioritized,” he added.
He further noted, “This is the first time we are enjoying such a privilege from the Presidency, particularly the Office of the Wife of the President, as an organization under the leadership of Hon. Amin Sani Jaji. We are most grateful.”
He stressed that the gesture, which resulted from a meeting between the organization and Sen. Oluremi Tinubu on December 19, 2024, in Kaduna, will significantly alleviate the suffering many people are experiencing.
“In the presence of you, journalists, I will distribute the 1,000 bags to all the LGA Coordinators, who will, in turn, distribute them to the Ward Coordinators, who will identify the beneficiaries and hand the items over to them as per her instructions,” he added.

He prayed for good health for the Wife of the President and her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to enable them to continue providing what he described as good, efficient, and effective leadership in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Coordinators, Iliya Bukar, the Coordinator for Bauchi LGA, commended the First Lady’s kind gesture, saying it would go a long way toward bringing smiles to the faces of beneficiaries during this festive season.
He assured that the LGA Coordinators would be fair and just in distributing the items, ensuring they reached the intended beneficiaries as directed by the donor.
Also speaking, the only woman among the Coordinators, Mrs. Saratu John, stated that the items came at a crucial time, considering the hardship people are currently facing.
She assured that the targeted beneficiaries would receive the items as directed, making the Yuletide season a moment of joy for them and their families.
