The All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA, will not have a presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, according to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
“President Tinubu is my friend, and I believe he has done well and deserves a second term,” Soludo stated during a press conference soon after taking office for a second term. This is my position, and I have no regrets.
“Everyone is free to disagree, but the interest of my people is the main concern, regardless of personal preferences.”
He went on to discuss how his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA, would handle the next election.
“Our party will not field a candidate. We have, however, made the announcement. APGA did not run a presidential candidate in 2011. Jonathan, the president at the time, was chosen by APGA as its nominee.
How can you convey that to the South-East in Tinubu’s case? Our people are intelligent. They will see the logic once they realize that it is in their own enlightened self-interest, he remarked.
Governor Soludo emphasized the necessity of going back to the alliance-based politics of the First and Second Republics.
“We must return to Azikiwe’s politics, which showed us how to form partnerships. It’s politics that creates bridges, not politics of protest. “With or without us, President Tinubu will win, but my people should have a say in the matter,” he declared.
