The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described himself as the most experienced active politician in Rivers State, insisting that his decades of political involvement have given him unmatched knowledge of the state’s political landscape.
Wike made the remarks on Saturday during a special media chat in Port Harcourt while reacting to the reported reconciliation between him and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following months of political tension.
The former Rivers State governor said his years of service in government and politics have provided him with a deep understanding of the personalities and dynamics that shape the state’s affairs. According to him, no other active politician in Rivers State possesses the level of experience he has accumulated since the return of democratic rule in 1999.
“I was a governor in the state and I know all these people. In fact, there is no politician in the state today that is more experienced than me. From 1999, I can say that I am the most experienced politician that is still on,” Wike stated.

The FCT Minister also took a swipe at individuals he claimed influenced Governor Fubara to engage in a prolonged political confrontation with him. According to Wike, those who allegedly advised the governor during the crisis had little to contribute to the progress and development of Rivers State.
He maintained that the political disagreement, which dominated the state’s political scene since 2023, was fueled by people who misled the governor instead of offering constructive counsel.
Wike had earlier identified four politicians whom he accused of playing key roles in encouraging the rift between him and Fubara. Although he did not elaborate further during the media chat, he reiterated his belief that the governor had been poorly advised throughout the political crisis.
His comments come amid renewed efforts at reconciliation between both political leaders, raising hopes of greater stability and cooperation in Rivers State after months of political uncertainty.
