2027 Elections: North East APC Youths Back Tinubu/Shettima Ticket

The All Progressives Congress Youth Parliament, North-East Zone, has approved Tinubu/Shettima’s joint ticket for 2027, stating that the party will continue to push it with unwavering determination because everyone has tried and trusted it.

Speaking at a press conference in Bauchi on Friday, Kabiru Kobi, the group’s chairman, claimed that recent events in the nation, where certain malicious elements and special interest groups are stoking discontent within the party’s conduit by fabricating a conspiracy theory with the sole intent of replacing Vice-President Kashim Shettima, are a sign of deeper divisions that could eventually consume the party.

According to him, the meeting has noted with the greatest dismay and worry that tensions inside the APC are increasing, indicating a storm that could rock the party’s foundation in the run-up to the 2027 elections.

He claims that a house that was once based on harmony, understanding, and shared ambition is now on the verge of disintegration, with obvious cracks endangering its very stability. He also notes that history has demonstrated that political parties, no matter how powerful, run the risk of collapsing when internal strife is allowed to continue unchecked.

“We came together today, under this platform, not only to reassess our very foundation, but also to join in imagination to a common purpose and to take bold steps not only to overcome our current challenges, but also to achieve greater APC project in 2027, devoid of any resentment of whatever cause, after closely observing the developments that suddenly began to rear its ugly head within the affairs of our party, the APC.”

It is regrettable that dissenting voices are becoming more and more prevalent in all political arenas, which fuels conjecture about the whereabouts of Vice President Kashim Shettima. The APC believes that removing a prominent member of the party’s leadership structure “if thicken” is like stripping a man naked in the middle of the market; any well-meaning citizen, not just those who are members of our enormous party, will undoubtedly oppose such a nefarious and clandestine action.

We have witnessed the futility of this political ploy before; the attempts to silence dissenting opinions frequently lead to conflicts that damage party cohesion. This conspiracy agenda’s resurgence serves as a reminder of the lesson learned from the past: underhanded plots by certain coalitions to remove the vice president resulted in internal strife, which shattered powerful political alliances, bred distrust among the party’s leadership, and ultimately haunted the party’s decision, ultimately leading to the unceremoniously defeat of the ruling class in 2015.

In light of this, we would like to make it clear that any attempt to re-run the joint ticket of His Excellency Bola Ahmad Tinubu and Kashim Shettima in 2027 will only fuel animosity that may persist after the elections due to the potential negative fallout from the party’s victory. History has little tolerance for those who choose to disregard its lessons, and it is far from concealed that the PDP’s past deeds are still plaguing the party in the nation today.

One must ask some important concerns as the APC navigates these turbulent waters: Will the party be able to withstand the plotting of certain within fifth columnists who discovered a way to employ conspiracy theory to undermine the long-term gains earned, especially with the 2027 elections approaching? Should we disregard all of the historical lessons by letting overzealous ambition cloud certain important players’ judgment about the risks that lie ahead?

Everyone is aware that Tinubu’s administration inherited a declining economy and low revenue, but they were resolved to address these issues through a number of reforms based on the Renewed Hope agenda, of which His Excellency Kashim Shettima is in charge of the strong economic team. As a result, we all recognize the necessity of uniting our support in order to help them create a true nation that will enable us to compete with others in terms of growth at all consequences.
