In the recently finished bye-elections for the Edo Central Senatorial District and the Ovia Federal Constituency, Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion were congratulated by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Ikpea and Igbinedion, candidates for the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the Saturday electoral contest.
The result was reportedly characterized by Okpebholo as an indication of the APC’s increasing popularity in Edo State.
President Bola Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 presidential campaign are improved by the results, the governor noted in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Fred Itua, on Sunday.
Voters’ high turnout to support the party’s candidates was praised by him.

Additionally, he expressed confidence that Ikpea and Igbinedion will successfully represent their constituencies in the National Assembly and seek to draw development to their localities.

As they start their legislative duties, he urged the people of the state to support the recently elected lawmakers.
He also promised that his administration would keep working with elected officials from all parties to further Edo State’s development and unity.
