Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader, has blamed party members’ behavior rather than external factors for the persistent unrest inside political parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In an interview with ARISE News on Thursday, Moro contended that the PDP and comparable parties’ ongoing problems are mostly self-inflicted. He emphasized that important individuals like governors, legislators, and party leaders are crucial in causing and exacerbating these problems.
He stated, “I think the responsibility lies mainly with political actors,” clarifying that parties’ seeming internal strife is a result of their own internal dynamics.
He further underlined that people in positions of authority, such as top party leaders and elected politicians, are primarily to blame for the current state of affairs.
In response to allegations that the PDP is divided into factions, Moro asserted that the party is still a single, cohesive entity.
“There is just one PDP,” he asserted.
Moro also considered past internal disputes, especially the contentious convention that took place in Ibadan. He pointed out that the fact that the event took place in contravention of a court order that forbade it made the party’s challenges more intense.
He claims that the convention’s results were declared unlawful by the Court of Appeal.
