Fabiyi Oladimeji, the Deputy National Financial Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC), has said that the presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso is not a good idea.
Oladimeji said that the ADC would only have the right number of votes in 2027 if they ran with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Obi as their presidential candidates.
Fabiyi told reporters in Abuja that the number of votes cast in the 2023 general election shows that an Obi/Kwankwaso pairing would not be able to get enough votes to beat the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Even Kwankwaso and Obi can’t give us the number, I’m sorry to say this. Atiku and Obi are the best numbers.
“The three of them got about 14 to 15 million votes, while the President got about eight million.” Nigerians will notice the difference if these forces work together.
“Atiku has said he will back whoever wins. Amaechi has said the same thing. “We hope Peter Obi will also make that promise because this isn’t about personal ambition; it’s about saving the country,” he said.
