The 10th Senate’s current approval trend, according to Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), indicates that President Bola Tinubu gets what he wants.

According to reports, Abdullahi made this claim on Tuesday while answering questions during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” show.

According to Abdullahi, the Senate’s approval of Prof. Joash Amupitan as the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) chairperson was merely a formality.

He asserts that Tinubu’s proposal for the Senate to approve Amupitan as INEC chairman would not have been denied.

“With due respect to the National Assembly, we have discovered over time that the Senate, and particularly this Senate, has affirmed that the President gets what he wants,” he stated.

Therefore, I believe that Amupitan’s trip to the Senate for screening is really a formality. The reason it is done is because it is necessary. He could not possibly have been turned back for any reason.

ADC’s spokesperson went on to say that the party is prepared to give the newly appointed INEC chairman a fair opportunity to fulfill his commitments.

Abdullahi emphasized that the human element, not a lack of infrastructure or technology, is the primary cause of Nigeria’s electoral difficulties.
