Ibrahim Wala, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has alleged that the party’s presidential primary election was marred by intimidation, vote buying and other irregularities.
It was reported that Wala, a loyalist of one of the leading ADC presidential aspirants, Rotimi Amaechi, supervised the exercise in Gombe State.
Amaechi on Tuesday rejected the outcome of the polls, saying the process was not transparent and fair as earlier promised by the opposition party.
Wala, who also supported Amaechi’s claim in a post on his official Facebook page Wednesday described the process as “brazen, shameless auction that betrayed every value the ADC promised to uphold.”
Comrade Wala claimed that voters were intimidated and disenfranchised and emphasised that the result of the election was decided in a hotel room.
The ADC chieftain asked the frontrunner, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to distance himself forthwith from what he described as “dirty, concocted primary election results”.
He said he had “undisputable evidence of irregularities and disenfranchisement of voters” that happened under him in Gombe State.
An agent personally approached me, promising to take me to the committee leadership’s hotel room to get whatever I wanted.
“This hotel room was treated as a clandestine situation room where the state party leadership retired to after their field day to conclude their manipulative work behind closed doors”, he alleged.
