Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has chastised Tony Okocha for his remarks that Rotimi Amaechi, the previous governor of Rivers State, was unable to draw in development projects in the South-South area.
According to reports, Amaechi said that Nigerian politicians frequently use stealing and murder to win elections and hold onto power during his remarks in Abuja at a national conference on bolstering democracy in Nigeria, which was hosted by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, and Development.
Okocha charged the former Transportation Minister with trying to instigate the populace against President Tinubu’s administration during a press conference in Port Harcourt last Monday.
During his time as Minister, Amaechi allegedly failed to bring development projects to the South-South region, which Okocha denounced.
Eze, a close associate of Amaechi, called Okocha a worthless political craftsman who had lost his mind in a statement released to reporters on Wednesday.
In contrast to Okocha’s baseless accusations, Eze stated that Amaechi serviced all regions of the nation equally in his capacity as Minister and brought numerous development projects to the South-South region.
Eze claims that Amaechi had a hand in the establishment of the Maritime University in Oron, which hired a large number of Nigerians, including Rivers’ sons and daughters.
He pointed out that Amaechi was responsible for the development of the deep sea ports at Bonny and Warri.
For the record, he stated, “At a staggering 120 billion naira, Amaechi pushed for the construction of the 39-kilometer Bonny Bodo road and its two creek bridges, including the bridge over Opobo channel.” Only the second Niger bridge project is similar to this enormous bridge.
When Wike was a minister, the PDP government thwarted efforts to renovate Port Harcourt International Airport, which was dubbed one of the worst in the world. Today, it is regarded as one of the best airports in the world. Amaechi’s tenure as substantive Minister of Transportation was responsible for the reversal.

“Rivers State regained possession of the Soku Oil well that Wike had backed in giving to Bayelsa.
When Amaechi was a minister, the Ogoni Cleanup initiative got underway, despite the PDP administration, when Wike was a junior minister, claiming it was unachievable.
Amaechi’s influence helped draw attention to the East West Road, which the PDP government had abandoned.
“Cargo ships now dock in Onne Port under Amaechi, boosting the state’s economy, bolstering its revenue, and opening up more jobs for Rivers residents.”
Amaechi is responsible with building the current rail connection between Port Harcourt and Maiduguri. The rail line from Calabar to Lagos via Port Harcourt is likewise on schedule. Amaechi was the designer.
Amaechi had an impact in the establishment of the Naval Intelligence and Logistics College at Ubima while serving as Minister.

In his capacity as Minister, the former Governor made it possible for Rivers State to receive N79 billion back from federal projects that were carried out while he was governor, among other benefits.
Okocha is requesting that Amaechi provide the name of a project he completed while serving as the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Super Minister.
“In addition to all of the aforementioned accomplishments, Amaechi was a powerful Minister in President Buhari’s administration who influenced more than 15 important projects spread throughout the South South, not to mention the thousands of South South Africans he made sure were appointed to various Federal Government Agencies.”
