Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has called on the residents of the state to contribute their quota to the development and progress of Taraba.
The governor, in a goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah ahead of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, on Tuesday called for the unity.
The message was delivered by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello.
Kefas asked people to stay together and not to do anything that would separate them on religious grounds.
“Therefore, let us contribute our little quota to building the Taraba of our choice,” the governor said.
He said Taraba is the common heritage of all residents and stressed that it is the duty of the citizens to work together to promote unity, security, peace and development in the state.
He said the Sallah celebration was coming at a time many families were economically challenged and had limited opportunities of spending quality time together. He said the festival was a chance for families, friends and communities to come together and share love.
He also called on the Muslim faithful to continue to espouse values that promote peaceful co-existence and national unity.
The governor also cautioned politicians and their supporters against violence as political activity heats up in the run-up to campaign season.
“And let me also use this occasion to remind us that this is a campaign year and we must approach partisan politics with a godly spirit, detest violence and have an open mind and campaign on topical issues and not slandering others,” he said.
