The Presidency has raised security concerns over comments made by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, against the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar.
Babachir while declaring his resignation from the ADC on Monday alleged that Atiku is a manipulator, claiming that the outcome of the recently concluded primary election of the party was predetermined in favour of the former vice president.
He said the primary elections at all levels were “massively rigged to favour Kachalla Abubakar Atiku”.
He said the results of the polls were “just written or rewritten to favour him and his coven”.
Reacting, the Presidential spokesperson, Daniel Bwala in a post on his official X handle said what the former SGF “said about the candidate of ADC if verified is scary and will undermine the national security of Nigeria”.
Bwala said that plans by opposition leaders plotting to remove President Tinubu in 2027 had been exposed, adding that his principal remained the best candidate.
Bwala said that in the last two or three months, “these people were saying they were made from heaven as one indivisible and indissoluble coalition sent by God to come and rescue Nigeria; and alas all their intentions and plans have been exposed”.
With the allegations against some of the opposition candidates, the “choice for 2027 has never been more clearer, he said. President Tinubu is in all honesty a million miles ahead of them”.
