Bandits have demanded ₦540 million in ransom for the victims who were kidnapped during an attack on a general hospital in Katsina State’s Kankara Local Government Area.
It was noted that Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire, a physician, and another person were shot during the Tuesday attack at the scene.
During the raid, Dr. Dandashire was shot, and many employees were taken hostage.

The head of the hospital’s nursing department and Assistant Director of Nursing Services, Yusuf Muhammad Mairuwa, is one of the abductees.
“The bandits are demanding ₦270 million for Mairuwa’s release and another ₦270 million for the other hospital staff and workers from a nearby fertilizer factory who were also kidnapped during the incident,” the Daily Post reported, citing sources.

Katsina State’s governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has denounced the attack and stated that his administration is dedicated to protecting healthcare personnel.

While Governor Radda acknowledged the progress made in preventing similar attacks, he stressed that the objective is still not complete in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
