The Bella Amor Global Aid Foundation (BAAF), in partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has successfully concluded a large-scale humanitarian outreach in Kano State under the “Boy Child Life Matters Initiative/Mo’Feed Project”, impacting more than 7,000 Almajiri children across five Tsangaya schools.

The four-day intervention, held between May 14 and 17, focused on improving the welfare of vulnerable children while promoting dignity, care, and hope among underserved communities in the state.

The outreach covered five Tsangaya schools, namely Dakata Tsangaya 1, Dakata Tsangaya 2, Dakata Tsangaya 3, Dakata Tsangaya 4, and Goron Dutse Tsangaya.

The official flag-off ceremony took place on May 15 and attracted key stakeholders, Islamic clerics, community leaders, and heads of the participating Tsangaya schools. The event also served as an advocacy platform for stronger support systems and improved welfare for Almajiri children.

During the outreach visits conducted on May 16 and 17, the intervention team carried out extensive humanitarian activities across the schools. Over 7,000 pupils were provided with meals, while more than 5,000 children received clothing support. Copies of the Holy Qur’an were also distributed to the pupils.

However, the outreach team observed disturbing living conditions affecting many of the children. Several pupils were found sleeping on bare floors in overcrowded and unhealthy environments, exposing them to serious health risks and harsh living conditions.

Concerned by the realities discovered during the field visits, Bella Amor Global Aid Foundation, in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service, announced plans for a second phase of the intervention. The next phase will focus on improving the children’s living conditions through the provision of mattresses and other essential welfare materials.

Speaking on the initiative, the Foundation stressed that every child deserves humane living conditions, proper care, dignity, and equal opportunities regardless of social background.

The intervention further underscores the importance of collaborative humanitarian efforts between government institutions, non-governmental organisations, religious leaders, and community stakeholders in addressing societal challenges affecting vulnerable populations.

As preparations begin for the second phase of the project, BAAF reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable humanitarian interventions and continued advocacy for the welfare, protection, and dignity of vulnerable children across Nigeria.

The Foundation also expressed profound appreciation to the Nigeria Customs Service for its support and collaboration towards the successful execution of the project.

Special commendation was given to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership, compassion, and commitment to humanitarian causes across the country.

BAAF also appreciated the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service for its active coordination and involvement throughout the project, while special recognition was accorded to Comptroller MP Ibrahim for his dedication and contributions during the field operations and outreach activities.

The Foundation further thanked religious leaders, volunteers, partners, and other stakeholders whose contributions ensured the success of the humanitarian outreach.
