The All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue North East Senatorial primary election, which was held across nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the area, was won by Senator Gabriel Suswam, a former governor of Benue State.

The LGAs include Konshisha, Kwande Ushongo, Vandeikya, Ukum, Logo, and Katsina-Ala.
With 131,083 votes, Suswam defeated his six opponents, including the incumbent Senator Emmanuel Udende, who received 1,364 votes overall, and his closest rival, Cephas Tushima, who received 4424.

Senator Titus Zam, the District’s incumbent senator, lost his reelection ticket in the recently held primaries in Benue North West.

Buruku, Gwer East, Gwer West, Guma, Gboko, Tarka, and Makurdi were among the seven Local Government Areas where the election was held, according to Chief John Ihembe, the Returning Officer.
Benjamin Aber, a former Custom Officer and the spouse of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), won the election in Zone B with 93,412 votes, defeating Titus Zam, the incumbent, who received 2,763.

Sabiu Saidu, the chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee, announced the results at the APC Secretariat in Makurdi on Tuesday, stating that the election was free, fair, and peaceful.

With the most votes, Saidu proclaimed Mr. Gabriel Suswam and Mr. Benjamin Aber the winners of the election.

“I, Sabiu Saidu Mahuta, the electoral returning officer, have signed their declaration, which is dated today, May 19, 2026,” he stated.

The results of the Benue South Senatorial District primaries were still pending as of the time this story was filed.
