Nafiu Bala Gombe’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) has turned down a video that is going around that shows an empty elective national convention venue that his part of the party was supposed to be at.
Nafiu said that the video was made by people who work for a coalition’s propaganda machine.
He said that the video wrongly talked about a supposed elective convention that supposedly took place at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.
Bala Sani Kumo, his Chief of Staff, said in a statement that the national leadership of the ADC, which he leads, never told its members about any elective convention or gave permission for one to happen.
He stressed that the party is committed to following due process, constitutionalism, and the rule of law. It will wait for the results of an ongoing legal case in the Federal High Court and a related appeal in the Supreme Court.
The statement said, “The video mentioned above, made by agents of the coalition’s propaganda machine, talks about a supposed elective convention of the ADC that was said to have taken place at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.
To set the record straight, the ADC, which is led by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe at the national level, has never told its members about an elective convention or allowed one to happen.
The ADC will wait for the Federal High Court to make a decision on the case that is currently pending and the Supreme Court to hear the appeal that is related to it. This is because the ADC is a responsible and law-abiding political party that follows the principles of due process, constitutionalism, and the rule of law. The case has been put off until April 22, 2026.
