Afuye was reported to have voted around 8:50 a.m. The deputy governor congratulated voters for coming out in large numbers to perform their civic duty.

“Look at how people came out to vote in this election, for yourselves. Not just trooping out, but ready, eager to vote. “I am indeed surprised at this conduct of our voters,” she said.

Other local governments also reported strong voter turnout, she said.

“This shows that the stringent campaigns we did are yielding positive results,” Afuye added.

Afuye also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their behavior.

“I also have to commend INEC and our security agencies. They worked hard for this election. “You can see that nobody is being intimidated and I believe if we continue like this, this election may turn out being the best in Ekiti history,” she said.

Afuye, when asked to predict the outcome, said Governor Biodun Oyebanji had done well for the state and would be returned.

“Governor Oyebanji is not only going to win this election, it is going to be by a wide margin,” she declared.
