Any partnership between Nasir El-Rufai and Peter Obi before the 2027 election, according to human rights attorney Dele Farotimi, might not succeed.
Farotimi reportedly criticized the former Kaduna governor for his racism and passivity during attacks on the people of Southern Kaduna.
The former member of Obi’s presidential campaign council told News Central that any 2027 coalition would be pointless if it didn’t ensure the support of the electorate.
He asserted that the peoples of the Middle Belt and Southern Kaduna would not accept an alliance with El-Rufai.
Twenty-seven is a waste of time. And the question is this: should Peter Obi form an alliance with an El-Rufai? Is that coalition something that was formed after Nigerians were granted citizenship and were able to vote? Even though I would expect someone like El-Rufai, who has done numerous transgressions against the Nigerian people, particularly the people of Southern Kaduna, to make amends and take a back seat, I might examine the content of such an alliance if it exists. I don’t think he should be in the spotlight and letting others know.
“Because it’s hard for anyone to imagine Southern Kaduna residents gazing at an El-Rufai.” I’m not sure how the people of the entire Middle Belt would tolerate an El-Rufai in a political party where he has a significant position. He stated, “His bigotry is well documented, too well documented for us to be debating.”
In response to the question of whether he would rather have President Bola Tinubu than El-Rufai, Farotimi stated that he was aware of Tinubu’s depravity, but that he still gets shivers when he thinks about the former Kaduna governor.
To put it plainly, Tinubu is the worst person I’ve ever met. As for El-Rufai’s wicked potential, I’m not sure. When I consider the things that have been connected to him, I simply know that he is a really, deeply creepy person. He has publicly stated that terrorists must be paid, that you will pay for your debt to Fulani, and that the people of Southern Kaduna were treated like swine.

Regardless of his direct responsibility, he was the state’s governor and chief security officer, and he had nothing comforting to say about these issues. Additionally, I participate in the Leaders Forum for the Southern and Middle Belt. I’ve heard Middle Belt residents talk about the suffering they endure at the hands of Fulani raiders. And it makes my skin crawl to hear someone now talk about how that degree of depravity has become normalized. It’s almost like asking which hand I would rather have amputated, yet I can’t dispute what Chidi Odinkalu said. Because the Nigerian people won’t find any salvation between the two of them,” he continued.
