The Centre for the Advocacy for Human Rights and Social Justice supports the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun East Senatorial District caucus’s decision to limit attendance at its recent meeting to only properly accredited members. They say this was a necessary step to keep order, discipline, and the integrity of the institution.
The group, whose Leader is Olufemi Akindele, sent out a press release to journalists that said the controversy over the alleged exclusion of Senator Gbenga Daniel was being blown out of proportion. They stressed that all members, no matter what their status, must respect the party’s structures.
The organization said that caucus meetings are not open to the public and that there are clear rules for how they work. They also said that people usually only come if they are invited and recognized within the party hierarchy. It said that the choice to limit participation was not random or aimed at a specific group, but rather in line with established rules meant to make sure that discussions were useful.
The statement said that trying to make the development look like an attack on Senator Daniel was wrong. It also said that party mechanisms should not be misrepresented in a way that could confuse the public or cause unnecessary stress.

The group told its supporters to be careful not to get the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, involved in what it called a “party-driven matter.” It said again that the meeting in question was not called by the state government, but by party members acting within the law.
