In a statement sent by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Ukoha, the governor clarified that the decision was not politically driven, despite opposition members’ misconceptions.

According to Otti, the sealing was done as part of a general enforcement of court orders by the state’s Harmonized Task Force.
However, he said that once Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, brought the issue to his attention, he had issued an order to unseal the property.

He claims that the action has no political overtones and cautions against attributing motivations to the harmonized taskforce’s actions.

While the building’s documentation was being regularized, the unsealing was quickly carried out.

According to the statement, “this enforcement was not politically motivated; rather, it was part of a general exercise targeting properties in default of statutory obligations.”
