Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will be formally welcomed into the All Progressives Congress by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kano on Monday. A lavish ceremony will be held at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata.
Party leaders have characterized the event as a significant political meeting intended to strengthen the ruling party’s power in the North-West, and it was understood that several APC governors and Vice President Kashim Shettima would also be attending.
The reception would formally and symbolically welcome Yusuf into the Kano State APC, according to Abdullahi Abbas, the party’s chairman.
He called the development a major turning point for the APC in Kano, which is considered to be one of Nigeria’s most strategically important political strongholds.
According to him, a lot of planning has been done to make sure the event goes smoothly.
A number of committees had been established to organize the event’s logistics, security, and mobilization, Abbas revealed.
The Director-General of Special Services will serve as secretary to the 15-member Security Committee, which will be led by Col. Umar Malami.
To oversee stadium facilities, a 16-member Venue Committee led by Hon. Bala Mohd Gwagwarwa and chaired by Umar Abdullahi Ganduje has been appointed.
Hon. Muhammad Garba will serve as the chair of a 15-member Publicity Committee that would manage media and public interaction.
The Health Emergency and Sanitation Committee, under the direction of Dr. Abubakar Labaran, will also organize emergency and medical services.
Under the direction of Hon. Abdullahi Rogo, the Protocol Committee is in charge of overseeing the reception procedures for the dignitaries who are anticipated at the event.
To guarantee widespread involvement, the party also established a 20-person Mobilization Committee, led by Hon. Mohd Bello Butu-Butu.
