For their gifted Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, Turkish club Galatasaray made a sizable €65 million offer, which Italian powerhouse Napoli rejected.
Galatasaray made the bid in an attempt to permanently sign Osimhen following his stellar loan stint with the team.

Osimhen’s €75 million release clause was not met by the Turkish team’s attempt to activate his loan deal, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

With no chance of a permanent transfer, the 26-year-old joined Galatasaray on loan till the end of the current campaign.

However, because the loan arrangement includes a specific compensation condition, Galatasaray has special negotiating leverage.

According to this clause, Galatasaray would be entitled to a €6 million compensation fee from Napoli if Osimhen moved to another club during the January transfer window. This effectively increases Osimhen’s release clause to €81 million for possible suitors this winter.

As a result, only Galatasaray is able to sign the striker for the initial €75 million this month; other teams will need to wait until the summer to exercise the identical release option.

Osimhen’s release clause was originally set at an incredible €130 million, but it was changed last summer when he signed a new deal with Napoli that permitted him to travel on loan to Galatasaray.

In just 20 games since joining the Turkish league leaders, the Nigerian international has been in outstanding form, tallying 16 goals and dishing out five assists. His efforts have proved crucial to Galatasaray’s ability to hold onto the top spot in the Süper Lig.

Osimhen recently confirmed his dedication to Galatasaray in a statement, saying, “I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season; I will not be leaving in January.”

“If Galatasaray and Napoli approach me, I am willing to have a conversation, but I am not aware of what they are talking about regarding future arrangements.”
