The National Assembly Clerk, Kamoru Ogunlana, has advocated for the country’s parliament to be digitalized in order to provide efficient services.
During a three-day conference hosted by the National Assembly in partnership with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Center (PLAC), Ogulana made this call on Friday, May 9.
He asserted that the National Assembly’s use of digital technologies for legislative procedures had to be deliberate.

He claims that digitizing the system is now a pressing need in the legislative rather than an option.
“This retreat’s agenda includes not only addressing new issues but also investigating team-building techniques that strategically utilize our human capital,” Ogunala stated.
He added that legal restrictions have delayed the adoption of digital technologies in the legislature, but Nigeria no longer has any justifications now that the Evidence Act of 1945 has been repealed.
The new Evidence Act of 2004 has removed that obstacle, therefore there should be no justification for a delay. “If we don’t incorporate digital technology, we risk shutdowns in the future.” We must adopt the e-Parliament paradigm consciously,” he continued.
