Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at his residence in Kano.
Obasanjo was received on Thursday by Kwankwaso and Kano NDC governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, it was learnt.
Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, confirmed the visit in a statement, describing it as an opportunity for warm exchanges between the leaders.
But Hassan did not elaborate on what the two politicians discussed in the meeting.
Remember that Kwankwaso served as Minister of Defence during Obasanjo’s second tenure from 2003 to 2007 and has since then maintained a good relationship with him.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has insisted that Kwankwaso did not buy any nomination form from the party.
Baba-Ahmed made this clarification Tuesday during an interview on ARISE Television’s Morning Show, while reacting to the allegation that Kwankwaso bought 69 nomination forms to take over the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
“But Baba-Ahmed said it would be impossible for Kwankwaso to have bought 69 forms from the PRP in Kano, stressing that the former governor has no official ties to the party.
The National Chairman said the man claiming that Kwankwaso bought the PRP nomination forms is not a member of the party.
