In two different operations, the Niger State Police Command has detained a 63-year-old man and three alleged phone snatchers for stealing a motorcycle.
The Command claimed that Mohammed Sani, a 63-year-old motorcycle thief, was apprehended on October 12, 2025, in Tugan-Kawo village, Kontagora, in a statement released by the Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna.
The sexagenarian was caught stealing a motorcycle made by Bajaj.
According to the PRO, a number of motorbike keys used for motorcycle theft were discovered in the possession of Sani, a resident of Tungan-Gero, Mashegu LGA.
He admitted to the crime, and the motorcycle’s owner was subsequently found. Abiodun declared, “Sani has been charged to court for prosecution.”
He revealed that three alleged phone snatchers were taken into custody at Kure Market in Minna on October 12, 2025, as part of the second operation.
Following a distress call to GRA Division, the accused, Hassan Abdullahi, 19, Abubakar Ali, 25, and Kalipha Bashiru, 21, were taken into custody.
“Several victims who showed up at the police station with packs of their stolen phones identified the suspects, who typically use unregistered tricycles to snatch phones from unsuspecting members of the public,” he said.
The suspects are currently being investigated and will shortly face charges in court.
