Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is the beginning of more troubles for the party, a Nigerian broadcast journalist, Rufai Oseni, has said.
Speaking on emerging political alignments ahead of the forthcoming general election, Oseni said this on Monday on ARISE Television’s ‘The Morning Show’.
The recent expansion of the NDC, Oseni said, may soon be followed by internal and legal crises, alleging that there are moves within political circles to prevent Peter Obi from contesting in the 2027 election.
According to him, Peter Obi is considered the only opposition figure that could pose a serious electoral threat to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election based on political mapping by major parties including the ADC and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I think it will be the beginning of more troubles for the NDC because the litigation will start,” he said. The litigations as to even the registration of the NDC.
So it will start because you see the idea here is Peter Obi not being on the ballot. And there’s the problem. All the forces will do all to make sure Obi does not get on the ballot.
I do a lot of political mapping and know people that do political mapping, the ADC, APC, all the political parties have done political mapping. Obi is the only person who can give President Tinubu some push in this election.
“The first strategy is to ensure Obi does not make the ballot. That was the reason for the crisis in the ADC.”
