Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a suspected female Boko Haram/ISWAP collaborator at a security checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Kellu Abba, 50, was reportedly arrested around 8am on Wednesday.
The woman was intercepted allegedly conveying supplies to a suspected terrorist, security sources quoted by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region.
Abba, the sources said, is a Kanuri woman living in the Lawanti area of Baga town.
She was reportedly taking supplies to her son, Modu Mustapha, who is a suspected terrorist operating in the general area of Dumba.
“The sources said the suspect, a Kanuri woman residing in Lawanti area of Baga town was intercepted while allegedly conveying supplies to her son, identified as Modu Mustapha, a suspected terrorist operating within the Dumba general area,” Makama said.
Reports said the suspect was also found with four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two hijabs and one wristwatch.
The report added, “The sources said that four ready-to-eat supplementary food packs, two hijabs and one wristwatch were recovered from the suspect.
The suspect is said to be held by the 196 Amphibious Battalion for further questioning.
“The suspect is now in the custody of the 196 Amphibious Battalion for further investigation and necessary action,” the publication said.
The report said the security situation throughout the theatre was calm but unpredictable. It stated also that morale and fighting efficiency of troops remained satisfactory.
