Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, says the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is making the same mistake that led to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) losing the 2023 election.
Umeh who was quoted as saying this while explaining the reason behind the decision of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) to zone its presidency to the Southern part of Nigeria.
He answered questions in an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’. Umeh said the NDC took the decision to complete the remaining four years of the eight-year tenure of the South.
“You cannot challenge the Southern Nigerian, knowing that they are entitled to two terms in office,” the lawmaker said.
“NDC was able to rise to the occasion by doing the needful,” he said. In politics you have to do what will make you succeed. You need to have a sense of equity, a sense of balance, something that will attract people to you.
“The African Democratic Congress, ADC, could not do the zoning. Zoning is the reason for the PDP’s loss of the 2023 election. So it is surprising that with all the efforts we made, the ADC with the strength intermask decided to make the same mistake again.
“Knowing that there is no way you can come and challenge the Southern Nigeria in this election, where they are entitled to two terms in office; eight years.
“In the last dispensation, eight years when it shifted to the turn of the South, it became necessary that any right thinking person should be able to take candidates from the southern part of Nigeria.
