Ibrahim Mahmood Sani, a public affairs analyst and civil society advocate, has asked General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defense Staff, and Nigerian troops to step up their efforts to get rid of bandits, terrorists, and other criminals in the northern part of the country.
Sani made the request in a statement released on Wednesday, when insecurity was growing in many areas of northern Nigeria.
His comments come after a recent trip to Zamfara State for work, where the Chief of Defence Staff told troops to put an end to banditry in the area once and for all.
Sani reacted to the news by saying he supported the military’s renewed commitment to fight insecurity head-on. He told all Nigerians to support and encourage the armed forces in their fight against what he called a “common enemy.”
He said that the bandits’ ongoing killings and other terrible acts must not be tolerated any longer.
“The Chief of Defence Staff has shown that you can’t lead from a distance. Sani said, “His presence in Zamfara, his interactions with troops, and his clear order that Nigeria must be made safe at all costs send a strong message that the time for hesitation is over.”
“The battle against banditry is not a quick job. “It takes a lot of work, and it’s good to see that the Armed Forces’ leaders are putting both operational effectiveness and troop welfare at the top of their list of priorities,” he said.
