Former Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Austin Tam-George, has said the government of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is their best bet to get away from the self-aggrandisement of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Tam-George was said to have made the statement on Thursday during an interview on ARISE Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme.
Wike, he said, has taken self-aggrandisement to a new level and citizens have objected.
He also blasted Wike’s administration as Governor of Rivers State, saying that no civil servant was promoted in the eight years.
“The administration is our best chance to escape from Wike’s self-aggrandizement,” he said.
“The issue of godfathers is not peculiar to Rivers State as you probably know but what is peculiar in terms of Rivers State is that we have a godfather who has taken prebendal politics to a whole new stratosphere.
“We’ve got a former governor who’s gone to the point of personal aggrandizement that the people have to say no, this can’t be accepted.
We who support Fubara’s administration do so because it is our best shot to get out of the prebendal, self-aggrandizing politics that Wike personifies.
“Not a single civil servant was promoted in Rivers State during Wike’s eight years in office.
Like I said before, the Governor was wise enough, like Governor Fubara, to gravitate towards meeting the needs of the people.
