Based on actionable intelligence, the Oyo State Police Command has successfully disassembled a one-chance robbery group and captured two suspected members. This discovery comes after a widely shared video revealed the gang’s illegal operations in the Ibadan region.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, assigned members of the Command’s Tactical Units the responsibility of capturing the gang after a video went viral revealing their actions. The teams immediately began a thorough search for the gang members and activated their informant networks.

Their efforts paid off on July 12, 2025, when intelligence accessible to the Command Monitoring Unit revealed the presence of suspected one-chance robbers, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Adewale Osifeso, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo State Command. Officers from the Unit tracked down and found the suspects on the Old Ibadan/Oyo Road at approximately 3:30 pm that day.

Following it, the following members of the criminal group were captured and placed under arrest: Kolawole Moshood, a 42-year-old man from Ibadan’s Olomoyeye Muslim Area, and Opeyemi Kuburat, a 45-year-old woman from Ibadan’s Beyerunka Area.

A Nissan Almera car (Registration Number: Lagos FST 779 DL), purportedly utilized by the suspects in their illegal activities, was found during the operation. The two admitted to being important members of a one-chance robbery gang that operated in Ibadan and the surrounding areas when they were questioned. They also acknowledged using the confiscated car to rob and defraud several individuals.

The suspects are helping with the investigation while they are in police custody. Three victims have so far come forward and positively recognized them as the thieves who stole their goods from them on different occasions. In order to find and capture additional gang members and retrieve their weapons, the investigation is still ongoing.
