Some of Obi’s supporters, widely called Obidients, had gone on X to call out Ekong over her alleged past association with factional Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, whom they accused of selling their mandate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pushing Obi out of LP.

They told her to resign from the NDC to avoid the happening of the LP incident.
Olayinka responded by asking why the Obidients wanted Ekong to leave the party where they met her.

“They are also showing what they are,” he said. “Tell people you met at a party you joined less than 48 hours ago to leave the party for them.”
