Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said that President Bola Tinubu will not get up to 3 million votes in a free and fair election.
“Since the 2023 election, the political situation has changed dramatically,” warned Momodu, warning that major candidates could not take automatic retention of voters for granted.
He made this statement on Wednesday while appearing on Channels Television.
“Are you saying Tinubu will keep all the 8 million plus that voted him last time? How do you know. What is the guarantee that Obi and Kwankwaso are the only ones that will retain all those that voted for them last time? “The situation has changed,” he inquired.
“If Tinubu allows a free and fair election, he may not even get 3 million votes,” Momodu said.
He cited the poor performance of some G5 governors who could not get senatorial seats in their states including Enugu, Abia and Benue as proof of voter’s loyalty shifting.
“The so-called unity that exists among some opposition elements today is not a real commitment that will last long but a reaction to the pressure from the ruling government,” Ovation publisher added.
“Tinubu brought all of them together. And that is why they all came in one direction. “Which would have been beautiful, because it would have been like a two party race,” Momodu said.
The ADC chieftain, speaking on coalition talks, said his party remains focused and steadfast.
He invited anyone who wanted to come along, but he would not accept any kind of blackmail or the notion that victory was dependent on one man.
“Those who want to come in should come in. You can’t be blackmailed, those who don’t want to join; He declared that only one man can make us win.”
He said the 2019 alliance of Atiku Abubakar and Obi failed to win and their individual contests in 2023 also failed to oust the ruling party.
