The All Progressives Congress (APC) could lose Kogi State in the 2027 general elections if President Bola Tinubu ignores former Governor Yahaya Bello, according to Commissioner for Solid Minerals Bashir Gegu.
Gegu issued the warning during a political meeting at the Kogi Local Council.
He said that Bello is still the mastermind behind the state’s current political system and a key player in the ruling party’s ongoing supremacy.
“If former Governor Yahaya Bello is not carried along, APC cannot win Kogi State,” the commissioner said in the address, which he posted on his Facebook page. The simple truth is that.
He denied social media’s criticism of a recent gathering in Lokoja, claiming it was a show of appreciation for Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s leadership rather than a power struggle.
Gegu went on, “It wasn’t a protest; it was a demonstration of gratitude.” However, it should be noted that the APC will not win Kogi without Yahaya Bello.
The commissioner acknowledged Bello’s contribution to the state’s political stability and federal visibility, stating that his impact is still felt in every district.
