The purported threat made by Rabiu Kwankwaso, the movement’s leader, to leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has been explained by the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
According to a statement from its spokesperson, Habibu Mohammed, Kwankwaso has never made threats to quit the party due to the candidates’ replacements.
The group said the rumors were just that—rumors.

According to reports, if loyalists who had previously been nominated by the bloc were removed, the Kwankwasiyya Movement would leave the party.
Recall that the rumors surfaced when the organization replaced a number of its candidates, allegedly violating a previous power-sharing agreement. Mohammed denied the accusations.
The group’s spokesperson noted that the party primaries were held on May 29 in accordance with INEC and the Electoral Act, and that the results were confirmed that same day.
He claimed that the NDC members and stakeholders have previously decided on a consensus approach when needed, adopted candidates appropriately, and submitted the list without internal disputes.
He went on to say that Kwankwaso had not voiced any complaints to the movement’s party.
